To become a Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, you must pass two exams:

• AZ-104 exam – Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate
• AZ-305 exam – Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions

Only when you pass both the exams, Microsoft will award you the Azure Solutions Architect Expert credential.

It is recommended that you first pass the AZ-104 exam to earn the Azure Administrator Associate certification, and then move on to the AZ-305 exam. Once you have successfully passed both exams, you will be awarded the Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.

Important to note:

– If you only pass the AZ-305 exam without completing AZ-104, you will not receive the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.

As a Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, you have subject matter expertise in designing cloud and hybrid solutions that run on Azure, including: Compute, Network, Storage, Monitoring, and Security;

Your responsibilities for this role include advising stakeholders and translating business requirements into designs for Azure solutions that align with the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure

In this role, you implement solutions on Azure by partnering with various other job roles, including: Developers, Administrators, Security engineers, and Data engineers.

As a candidate for the AZ-305 exam, you should have advanced experience and knowledge of IT operations, including networking, virtualization, identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data platforms, and governance. You should manage how decisions in each area affect an overall solution. In addition, you should have experience with: Azure administration, Azure development, and DevOps processes.

This exam measures your ability to accomplish the following technical tasks: design identity, governance, and monitoring solutions; design data storage solutions; design business continuity solutions; and design infrastructure solutions. The skills/domains assessed at a glance:

• Design identity, governance, and monitoring solutions (25–30%)
• Design data storage solutions (20–25%)
• Design business continuity solutions (15–20%)
• Design infrastructure solutions (30–35%)
