No, the CSM test is not intended to be a substitute for formal Scrum training from Scrum Alliance®. Even if you have years of experience working in Scrum domain or have attended prior training with a different certifying body or in your workspace, it is a mandatory requirement to attend a CSM training designed and conducted by a CST based on CSM Learning Objectives.
CSM certification exam is an online exam. You do not need to visit any physical exam center to take the test. You can take the CSM test from the comfort of your home or from any location. After you attend a Certified ScrumMaster course, you will receive a welcome email containing a link to activate your Scrum Alliance® certification account where you will be able to complete the CSM test. After receiving the initial welcome email from Scrum Alliance that contains the account activation link, you will have 90 days to complete the CSM test for free. You will get two free attempts to pass the CSM test. If you fail the test twice or complete it after 90 days, you will be prompted to pay a USD 25 test attempt fee.
Yes, the CSM test is available in several languages. It can be taken in English, Spanish (Castilian), Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Danish, Czech, and Russian.
The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification from Scrum Alliance can only be attained after attending in-person classroom training or instructor-led live-online training. There is no self-learning online course option in CSM. Scrum Alliance does not approve self-learning online course option for CSM certification. Till recently, the primary route to acquire CSM certification was by attending a 16-hour face-to-face CSM classroom training. Now, after the coronavirus pandemic, you can do so by attending a live-virtual class as well.
You do not need to pay the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) exam fee separately. The exam is included in the CSM course.
The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification exam contains 50 questions and you need to answer 37 out of the 50 questions correctly within the 60-minute time limit to pass the exam.
The Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification exam is a non-proctored online exam. That means no one will monitor your exam when you take it and you can refer to any material if you want to. Since the test needs to be completed within 1 hour, it is not recommended to look through any material online. Also, once you attend our CSM training, you won’t need to refer any material to pass the CSM test.
The link to the CSM live-online training is sent to the attendees couple of days before the program starts. If someone enrolls in the last minute (subject to availability of seats), the link will be sent you before the training starts.
